joshua radin (which means dreamy in marthaspeak)
has a song called 'girlfriend in a coma' and i'm not sure if i should like it. it sounds so sweet and innocent, that i think i'm missing the deep message behind it.
some of the lyrics are 'girlfriend in a coma, i know, i know its really serious/there are times when i could have murdered her/but you know i would hate anything to happen to her/no i don't want to see her/do you really think she'll pull through'
can anyone explain this to me? and yes, i have nothing better to do than sit around and contemplate the lyrics of some obscure artist.

That song reminds me of punch drunk love. Where they are laying in bed talking about wanting to bash each others fucking heads in... Martha if you think that is sweet you got something wrong.

the song "girlfriend in a coma" was actually originally written and performed by the smiths. morrissey is notorious for his extremely dark lyrics, so if you're worried that you shouldn't like the song because of the lyrical content, then you're right. morrissey is singing about not sure if he wants his girlfriend to live or not. i'm not sure if he means it literally or figuratively, but the overall message is "i'm not sure if i'm better off with my girlfriend around or not". however, if you like catchy pop songs it's a freakin' great song. i haven't heard the josh radin version, but the morrissey version is a brit-pop classic.
